Context
Unconventional Portraits is a visual exploration of identity through the intersection of hand-drawn
illustration,
digital manipulation, and geometric abstraction. The project moves beyond likeness, focusing instead
on presence,
attitude, and psychological character.
Concept
Each portrait combines analogue drawing with digital tools to create hybrid forms that sit between
realism and
distortion. Influenced by art, fashion, technology, and architectural geometry, the work investigates
how line,
structure, and colour can be used to express individuality rather than decoration.
Faces are treated as compositional systems rather than static subjects — fragmented, reassembled, and
reframed to
suggest inner states as much as outward appearance. The result is a series of portraits that feel
constructed yet
human, controlled yet expressive.
